Erica Joy Music

"She’ll turn you into a puddle of melted butter if you’re not careful."

I Heart Local Music, Middle of the Map Fest

BIO

In the early summer of 2015 at the Seattle Zoo Erica Joy was devastatingly kicked out of a Patty Griffin meet and greet she wasn’t invited to. While there were barricades between her and one of her most beloved musical influences that day, that same year she was to launch her own music career.

Joy released her first single, "Fun to Hold You", in 2015 which remained in the Kansas City’s 96.5 Homegrown Buzz rotation for over a year.

After playing locally and writing new material 2016 culminated with an exclusive music video premiere of her second single, “Happy Villian”, through 90.9 The Bridge.

Joy’s first ep, aptly titled “Introduction”, was released in 2017 and received accolades from NPR’s sister stations KCUR, 96.5 The Buzz, SoFar Sounds, Recordbar, Inkkc, Mills Record Company, I Heart Local Music, HearQueer, 90.9 The Bridge, and I Love KC Music solidifying Joy’s presence in the Kansas City and Midwest music scene.

Since then Joy continues to grace Midwest and festival stages including Middle of the Map Fest and Kansas City’s first OutSkrts Festival, .

With fundraising efforts for production underway 2019 ushers in a newly written album slated for release by 2020. Stay tuned for updates on future shows, new merch, and meet up opportunities at Ericajoymusic.com and affiliated social media websites.

Many thanks to all of Joy’s “faithful sons”.

Reviews

Gina Kaufmann, KCUR

Her voice "defies description."

Mills Record Company

"Part Chelsea Wolfe and part Brandi Carlile, Erica Joy’s music is intense and constantly flirts with the line between melancholy and mania."

I Heart Local Music, Middle of the Map Fest

"Like a box of valentines chocolates left to sit lonely in the sun on a park bench, you’ll walk out after her set all but an empty box."

Steven Ervay, PlaylistPlay

"Joy's voice is truly something to marvel about. The distinct chilling-ness can take a rapid turn into soulful, sultry tones. The angelic falsettos and the deep timbres echo throughout the five tracks"
